Peach leaf curl
Disease A fungus that blisters and curls the leaves of peaches, nectarines and almonds.
What to look for
Red, puckered and blistered leaves in spring, which later turn white and drop. Trees are weakened and crop poorly.
When: January to May.
How to prevent it
- Cover trees with a clear rain shelter from January to May, leaving the sides open for pollinators.
- Never let rain wet the leaves in winter and spring.
- Choose resistant varieties.
How to deal with it
- Remove affected leaves and bin them, and do not compost them.
- Feed and mulch to help the tree recover and produce new, healthy leaves.
